I recently did an interview on a local Opthalomologist to find further information about this career. The interview is as follows:
What is your favorite\least favorite thing about your job?
Most favorite thing is seeing my patients and taking care of them. Least favorite is dealing with Medicare and other insurance companies.
2. What type of education and training will I need before starting my career?
You need an undergraduate degree and then apply for a four year school, followed by residency.
3. What is a typical day like?
I arrive at office at 0700, start seeing patients at 0800, end at like 5:00 or 6:00.
4. How can I advance in my career?
You have to be passionate about what you do and want to be the best... hardwork, but rewarding.
5. What is your schedule like?
Work 5 days a week as described above.
6. What characteristics do I need?
Motivation, integrity, determinaiton, humility,compassion.
